Basic Sniper Course
Instructors: Instructor cadre comprised of members from the ATOA Sniper SME Committee.
Topics: This basic sniper course of study covers the use of a precision rifle equipped with a telescopic sight used by officers assigned to Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams. The course will cover weapon manipulation, principles of deployment and tactics. Use of force considerations, legal issues and department policies. Students will demonstrate marksmanship, concealment/cover principles, identification techniques and communication skills. This course will prepare the student for their department’s qualification and standards testing.
Requirements: 1. Rifle with scope capable of shooting one MOA or less
2. 400 rounds of rifle ammo
3. Duty gear
4. All equipment that you would deploy with on a callout
5. Gas mask
7. Wet weather gear
8. Flashlight
10. Data books
11. Pens
12. Rangefinder
13. Cleaning equipment
14. Any other equipment needed
Cost: Training is $500 per student and limited to current ATOA members (Limited to 16 students) Students will receive a $250 Eberlestock low drag pack as part of the registration cost!!
