ATOA is the only statewide tactical officers association that allows members an opportunity to exchange, share, and discuss operational information, lessons learned, equipment issues, and training opportunities with tactical officers across the state.
In keeping up with the ATOA’s mission to enhance operational capabilities, it has provided free training to all members of the association. A wide range of topics are covered, including - Basic SWAT Operator Schools, three sniper-related training events, TEMS, low light tactics, AR15/M16 armorer’s course, SWAT defensive tactics and night vision/thermal imaging courses, and much more.

The Arizona Tactical Officers Association (ATOA) was founded in 2009 out of a simple conversation at the Peoria Police Department’s firearms range. What began as an idea quickly grew into a statewide professional organization with the support of 12 agencies and a dedicated team of volunteers—all united by a single goal: to advance the SWAT and tactical community in Arizona.
When we chose a career in law enforcement, we took an oath to serve and protect—a responsibility we hold with the utmost seriousness. Each time we put on the badge, our primary mission is the preservation of life and the protection of those who live, work, and travel within our communities.
